<p>&#8220;The Truman Show&#8221; è un film del 1998, prodotto negli Stati Uniti d&#8217;America, dalla durata di circa 103 minuti; la regia della pellicola è affidata allo sceneggiatore, produttore cinematografico e regista <strong>Peter</strong> <strong>Weir</strong> (Homesdale; L&#8217;ultima onda; Gli anni spezzati; L&#8217;attimo fuggente; Fearless &#8211; Senza paura; Master and Commander &#8211; Sfida ai confini del mare; The Way Back).</p>
<h3>Trama</h3>
<p>Truman Burbank è un uomo allegro e pieno di vita, che all&#8217;apparenza conduce un&#8217;esistenza tranquilla e normalissima. Ciò che il protagonista però ignora, è che in realtà tutto il suo vissuto è una messinscena, compresi i suoi ricordi più lontani. Truman infatti è un ignaro personaggio di un programma televisivo, &#8220;The Truman Show&#8221; appunto; le persone che ha incontrato, i suoi affetti più cari, non sono altri che personaggi con ruoli costanti nello show o comparse di qualche puntata.</p>

<p>Ispirato parzialmente a un episodio di Ai confini della realtà, il film mostra un enorme Jim Carrey, sino ad allora apprezzato per ruoli comici in film di grande successo, come &#8220;<strong>The Mask&#8221;, &#8220;Ace Ventura&#8221; o &#8220;Scemo e più scemo&#8221;</strong>; l&#8217;interpretazione in &#8220;The Truman Show&#8221;, però, trasforma un bravissimo e apprezzato attore comico in un grandissimo attore, mediante una prova attoriale estramamente complessa ma decisamente riuscita.</p>
<p>Per un <strong>budget</strong> stimato in $ 60.000.000, il film ha incassato nel mondo ben 264.1 milioni $; le riprese del film si sono svolte nel periodo 09 Dicembre 1996 &#8211; 21 Aprile 1997 in USA.</p>
<p>Il film, dal momento della sua presentazione, ha fatto incetta di <strong>riconoscimenti</strong>, ed è stato candidato a tre Premi Oscar nel 1999 e premiato con tre BAFTA e altrettanti Golden Globe.</p>
